Angelo Sindaco and Mayo (aka Abyssy) are in the studio... for the first time? Maybe, maybe not. In the American meanders of Bologna, the city that loves Steve Poindexter and Juan Atkins, we are rejoicing a reunion. Reminiscing the days of packed clubs, hopes and dreams, jokes, vintage synths, broken knobs and infinite cables coiled around infinite vibes and sounds. We are celebrating eleven electronic landscapes. Eleven ideas coming from a music genre which has always been on this planet and got louder in the late eighties. A music called Techno, House, Electro... possibly a blend of all three. The sum of a technological universal inter-racial humanism which washed away the dust from our soul. A dust made from years of divisions like “The war of the Worlds”, Yankees vs. Southerners, Soul vs. electronic music.
We embrace the past only to discover we have never moved. It is not cultural stagnation: we are still floating in an amniotic liquid where we try to shape our present times while progress runs in front of us. It runs fast and we try to grab it without success. We do not realize we are already living it. But that is fine. You cannot hold the future. All you can do is try to describe it from a sensorial deprivation tub, although this time being fully aware of everything. We can see every single day passing by, all the years that have made us what we are today. But suddenly everything transforms into receding memories and we need a vivid picture of what we still see to show it to others... those who came after. Just like Sindaco and Abyssy are doing with “Depot”. A beautiful and non-perfect album, just like the present we are living.
